General Motors (GM) is committed to the total renewal of its brand and business model and now they announced that by 2040 their global products and operations will be carbon neutral. In addition, they estimate that by 2035 their new light vehicles will be emission-free.
GM explained that they will focus on “offering zero emission vehicles across a range of prices” and will work with all stakeholders “to build the necessary charging infrastructure and promote consumer acceptance.”

The company emphasized that efforts will focus on lighter cars, which mean that for the larger ones, the transition will be a little slower but in spite of everything, the execution of this plan will mean a very important reduction in polluting emissions.
An important investment
General Motors has a large sum of money ready to carry out their electrification plans. It is estimated that the company will invest about 27,000 million dollars in the next five years for the development of electric and autonomous vehicles.
In results, this would mean that by 2025, 40% of the vehicle portfolio in the US market will be purely electric, and about 30 products of the same nature will be available worldwide. Half of the development team and capital spending will be dedicated to ‘zero emissions’ projects.
