Starting in 2020, electric vehicle manufacturer Smart set the goal of manufacturing only cars with this technology, leaving aside those produced with combustion engines.
Two years later, the firm officially revealed the name of the first model of the new generation, which, according to company reports, has successfully passed the pre-launch test sessions.
It will be called #smart1. A hashtag recalling the social networks modern communication and that makes us understand the many novelties of the technological car.

All the details will soon be known, but the German company announced that the car has passed several aerodynamic winter tests, which is why they expect to present it later this year.
Power in the Cold
The #smart1 has undergone special road tests in snow and ice, under conditions similar to those of everyday urban winter driving.
Thanks to the proven ESP system provided by Bosch and the all-electric powertrain, the new car offers comfort, stability, acceleration and braking performance. The company assures that “safety and driving pleasure will be guaranteed”.
Having passed the crucial tests before its market launch, even during the coldest season, the new car is a candidate to be the protagonist in and out of the cities in all conditions.
The new Smart is the work of the Mercedes-Benz global design team along with the intelligent engineering department. Daniel Lescow, Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing and Aftersales at Smart Automobile, emphasized that “the first product of our brand renewal, the #smart1, seamlessly combines electric drive technology and premium quality. I am confident that #smart1 will make future customers happy, both in China and Europe. We are ready to usher in new trends in urban mobility. We want to create an engaging experience for all our customers.”
For his part, Smart Automobile’s Vice President of Research and Development, Yang Jun assured that due to the perfect cooperation between smart and the Mercedes-Benz design team, the new car is a masterpiece of engineering.
He stressed that the results of pre-market tests also demonstrate the excellent quality, performance and reliability of the vehicle. “Given that the car will be launched later this year, these developments make us confident that it will be well received by its future customers,” he said.
