Veloce Racing is one of the fastest teams setting out the roadmap for Extreme E season 2. After a successful debut, the 100% electric off-road category is hoping to increase the reach gained, as well as awareness of climate change, and of course, the British team is hoping to do the same.
First, Christine Giampaoli Zonca (GZ) was confirmed as the Veloce driver, and just a few weeks later, Lance Woolridge too, defining a luxury line-up aiming for great results, but they will have to fight hard on the most demanding off-road circuits.
GZ has experience on Extreme E, as in season 1, she drove for Xite Energy Racing with Oliver Bennett, where although they finished last as a team, the Italian-Spanish driver had great performances individually. Good starts and competitive pace emanated from her hands behind the ODYSSEY 21.

For sure, that was one of Veloce Racing’s reasons for betting on her. On the other hand, Woolridge climbed into the 1,780-kilogram vehicle at the Jurassic X Prix, the last race of the year where the World Championship was defined after a heart-stopping finish between Rosberg X Racing and X44. The British driver’s style also played a role and the team opted for him for 2022.
His extensive experience was present to give him the vote of confidence. Double winner of the South African Cross Country Series title in 2018 and 2019 was part of the endorsement for Lance to have a full-time opportunity at Extreme E.
“This is a great opportunity to continue with the team after a really promising run in Dorset at the end of last season. Although we didn’t make the final, I think it was clear that the pace was there, and we have some solid foundations to build on in 2022,” said the driver after being announced as Veloce Racing’s starter.
So, the aspirations are clear: To be at the front of the field for the second campaign and to leave behind seventh place and 77 points earned on the overall standings. Veloce’s ODYSSEY has pace and great hands to drive, therefore, they will be a squad to consider when going out to the circuits.
