Mahle is developing a new type of magnetless electric motor that does not require rare earth elements. This method seeks to make production more compatible with the environment and provide advantages in terms of costs and security of resources.
The main feature of the new motor is the inductive and therefore non-contact power transmission, which allows the motor to run wear-free and particularly efficiently at high speeds.
Efficiency is above 95% at almost all operating points, a level previously only achieved by Formula E race cars.
The German company combines the strengths of several electric motor concepts in a single product. This new development is easily scalable, so it can be used in anything from subcompacts to commercial vehicles. Mahle’s new traction motor is efficient and characterized by a high degree of durability. This makes the motor maintenance-free and suitable for a wide range of applications.
Mahle is a German company with more than 100 years of history that produces automotive parts such as piston systems, cylinder components and valve systems. It also has offices in other countries, the main ones being Brazil, Spain, the United States, China, Mexico and India.
