eSkootr Championship held its second race of the inaugural season. Sion, Switzerland, was the stage for the S1-X to race under an impressive scenery that brought Matis Neyroud (PLYR: 1) as favorite to win at home, but ended up witnessing a great performance by Sara Cabrini (Helbiz Racing), who made history in this nascent discipline.
Neyroud came to Sion as the winner of the first eSC event, in London. Being local and racing at home put all the spotlight on him, but he could only make it to the semifinals without recovering the ground lost in that instance, falling to third place in the overall driver standings.
With the local hero down, Cabrini took center stage in the final with a phenomenal performance on every lap of the Final Series, leading every lap and taking his S1-X to the finish line in first position after taking five seconds off his closest challenger, Frenchman Aymard Vernay.

“This is unbelievable. I’m very, very happy for me and for the team. Marc (Luna) and I had a very good battle in the quarterfinals and another one in the final. He even collided with me, but I told him ‘not this time’ and stayed in front. I was a little nervous in the first few laps, but when I saw that there was no one behind me, I knew I could make it to the finish line,” Cabrini said.
Sara made no mistakes during the 640-meter course through the streets of Sion, with the Swiss Alps as witness of an impeccable performance that resulted in her becoming the first woman in the history of the eSkootr Championship to win a race.
Cabrini’s victory puts her fourth in the overall drivers’ standings, with Anish Shetty (Carlin) leading the title race so far. Aymard Vernay is second, while London winner Matis Neyroud dropped to third place in the championship. In the team battle, Carlin is in the lead.
Now, the 10 teams will gather their 30 drivers for the third eSkootr Championship race, which will be held in Italy from July 15-16, where the host city is still to be announced.
