The eSkootr Championship announced a new long-term technical partnership with Italian advanced technology firm YCOM, which has a strong track record in designing and manufacturing vehicle technology for a number of racing operations, including winners in Formula 1 and the FIA World Endurance Championship.
The company will develop, build and supply eSkootrs for the upcoming electric racing series, the competition detailed in an official statement.
YCOM has already participated in the launch of several new racing series, both on the supplier and customer side, and will bring its experience and expertise in high-performance electric vehicle technology to influence this new partnership.
In the future, YCOM will take responsibility for manufacturing and developing the eSkootr from Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE), which conceived the initial prototype. WAE’s ongoing collaboration with the eSkootr Championship will focus on developing and supplying battery technology for current and future racing models.
The recently launched S1-X eSkootr will be supplied as a common part to all participants in the eSC opening seasons in order to efficiently manage and scale the costs of the competition.
However, starting in 2023, teams will have greater freedom to develop and build their own eSkootr racing models in the championship.
The protagonists speak
Hrag Sarkissian, eSkootr Championship co-founder and CEO, said: “We’re delighted to be collaborating so closely with YCOM. They have already started to develop and iterate our S1-X eSkootr prototype, introducing a number of key updates to the initial design.
“Their expertise and experience are well proven, and their commitment to sustainability is closely aligned to our own. We’re really excited to be creating this strategic and long-term partnership. Like us, YCOM is committed to innovating on the track with the potential for significant knowledge and technology transfer to the fast-evolving micromobility sector on the road,” added.
