Pirelli is known in the automotive world for being one of the most solid tire manufacturers in the market, so it is not surprising that it has chosen to develop a specific composite for electric cars, hybrids and SUVs that fulfill the needs and requirements demanded by these types of vehicles.
With constant advances in technology, it is increasingly necessary to have a set of tires capable of fulfilling their role to perfection. Nowadays, however, they perform beyond these limits by providing real-time data transmission such as temperature, life expectancy and possible hazards on the road.
For this reason, Pirelli has introduced HL tires (High Load) designed to safely withstand 20% of a standard range compound, and even 6% to 9% more than an XL extra load, pushing the performance to the next level in order to adapt to future mobility.

Now for vehicles carrying a Pirelli battery pack, the HL tires include a couple of extra additives. The first is called Elect and is intended to reduce rolling resistance and provide a smooth ride feel, practically making the vehicle’s handling on the asphalt unnoticeable.
The second has been baptized PNCS (Pirelli Noise Cancelling System), containing a material that completely absorbs tire vibrations, as well as air streams that might affect vehicle occupants’ comfort.
Pirelli understands that the increasing manufacture of SUV, hybrid and electric cars tends to a higher total weight of the final product released to the market, so the company dedicated hours of work and research to offer a compound capable of not counteracting reliability and quality in this type of vehicles.
“The attention we pay to new sustainable mobility models has led us to develop a technology capable of anticipating the upcoming needs for electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturers, who will require increasingly specific tire performance”, said Research and Development representative, Cyber at Pirelli & C Spa, Pierangelo Misani.
