]]>In the first race, Aegerter narrowly beat Mattia Casadei, whom he overtook in the last corner. From the start, the Swiss, the Italians Ferrari and Casadei, and Granado showed signs that the race was going to be extremely close.
The last turn was decisive with a tremendous offensive by Aegerter, a sector where he showed that he is one of the fastest riders in the competition. With great strategy to overtake at the right time, the Swiss was able to cross the finish line first, followed by a Granado and a relegated Casadei who could not maintain his advantage.
On the closing day, Eric Granado took the honors by being in first place when the competition was stopped by a red flag due to an accident between Miquel Pons and Marc Alcoba. It was before reaching two-thirds of the race, so due to MotoGP conditions it was decided to call it a day and hand out half points.
Before the accident, the rain that fell on the asphalt of Assen predicted an early day that despite being declared in water, all riders opted for the dry and, in the formation lap, asked to delay the appointment despite being warned of the rain.

At the start Mattia Casadei took the first position by braking on the outside, but with Dominique Aegerter and Matteo Ferrari close behind. Granado already overtook Ferrari to take third, very close to Aegerter. However, his teammate, Miquel Pons, surprised him from behind, passing him on the inside under hard braking. It was a wake-up call for the Brazilian, who quickly regained his position and also passed Aegerter.
At the start of the third lap Granado passed Casadei to take the lead of the race. Then came the moment of the big crash in which Pons fell and Marc Alcoba hit him from behind. Granado, Aegerter, Casadei and Ferrari were well ahead, but the red flag was raised to stop any duel and avoid further incidents.
The race was over and only half of the points would be awarded. Victory for Eric Granado ahead of Aegerter and Casadei, while Ferrari finished fourth.

]]>The Dynavolt Intact rider shone in the weekend’s double-header, winning Saturday’s race and finishing second on Sunday.
In the first round, Aegerter, who started first in the E-Pole, was able to recover from a loss of positions at the start that favored Andrea Mantovani and Matteo Ferrari to take the first places.

It is worth mentioning that the race had to be shortened to only five laps for safety reasons, so the only possible strategy was to stay ahead and withstand the pressure.
Eric Granado, who had taken the lead, could not maintain his position against Aegerter who believed in the comeback and, after overtaking Mantovani and Ferrari, retook the lead he had earned in qualifying.
Thus, on the last lap, the Swiss was clear that whoever arrived first at the braking of turn 1 had half the race done. He got rid of three riders and increased the pace significantly. This allowed Aegerter to get away enough to tackle the long straight of the transalpine track without losing the first position. Thus, the Swiss was able to win by only 33 thousandths of a second over Ferrari and by two tenths over Mantovani, which allows him to escape in the overall standings.
On the second day on Italian soil, Ferrari and Aegerter once again took center stage. The Italian took a decisive lead in the final laps to claim his first victory of the season, while the Swiss rider, fourth on the last lap, moved further ahead in the overall standings with his second place finish.
If on Saturday the competition was reduced to five laps for safety reasons, Sunday was no exception after a chaotic start in which Aegerter did not start as expected and Zannoni took advantage to overtake him. In addition, Mattia Casadei’s crash at the exit of turn one could have complicated things a lot, as his bike remained on the line. Something similar happened with Hikari Okubo, although fortunately there were no major consequences.
For his part, Aegerter began to lose many positions until he was in the middle of the classification, while Ferrari managed to impose itself in the fight for the lead. From there, the Italian began to set a great pace that no one else could follow, allowing him to have a slight but decisive advantage for the victory.
Although the leader remained in the middle of the field for most of the race, he was once again able to pull away and, on the last lap, he put in a spectacular last lap, overtaking three riders to take third place on the Mugello straight. He also took advantage of the breakaway to move up to second place and continue to make his overall lead slip further away.
After the weekend in Italy, Aegerter dominates the standings with 103 points, followed by Granado with 83 and Cassadei with 72.

]]>The post Jordi Torres: MotoE Two-time Champion after an Incredible Season appeared first on Green Racing News.
]]>Aegerter, who started fourth in the overall standings, needed to finish ahead of Torres if he wanted to challenge for the crown, so he focused on pressuring the eventual champion during the final laps, with extremely dangerous maneuvers that ended with an incident.
The Swiss, who decided not to race on the Supersport class to take his chances on the MotoE finale, braked hard at the last minute at the turn, letting his rear wheel slide and hitting Torres, who flew off the track and took a heavy blow.
Aegerter, removing all responsibility for the accident, continued straight to the finish line and even made a euphoric celebration that left everyone stunned at the unethical move on his opponent. However, the referees raised the sign that the action was under investigation.
After the review, the Swiss Aegerter received a 39-second penalty, which ended his hopes and dampened the celebration that had begun with his teammates and fans present in Misano.
The penalty was just the right measure, since the authorities could have imposed a lesser penalty that still gave the Intact GP representative as Champion, but given such an act of malice at an important moment, the decision seemed the right one.
As a result, Torres became the bi-champion of the electric motorcycles, after a fierce campaign against excellent riders. By retaining the crown, he becomes the most successful rider in the short history of the event.
“We tried to give our 100% in today’s race and it was reflected on the track. In the end, Aegerter caught us and overtook us, always in a very aggressive way, until one of those attempts led to contact, where maybe he went too far and I crashed. At that moment I was overtaken, destroyed, but I got back on the bike and tried to make it to the end of the race,” described Torres.
“Behind me there is a very generous, hard-working team, and we all work in the same direction, making things work out so well. Thanks to them, to Sito and to the sponsors for this year, we have done it again,” said the Spaniard with emotion.
The 2021 season of the MotoE left no room for breath in terms of high competition. The tournament was marked from the beginning with unexpected surprises, such as the leadership of Alessandro Zaccone, who led the standings until the last round. However, the Italian was deflating and could not withstand the final push, where more experienced drivers ended up surpassing him.
Eric Granado, one of the fastest drivers during the entire competition, was unable to make his skills count in the victory, as some mistakes on different tracks cost him key points to get to the top of the standings. His win at Le Mans seemed to catapult him, but inconsistency was a common factor in his performance.

Aegerter was one of the rivals to beat, and so it was. Until the very last breath, the Swiss rider put up a fight, and showed his versatility by dominating the Supersport tournament and at the same time was able to fight until the end to become the MotoE champion.
Finally Torres, quietly, was drawing on his experience. Without being at the forefront, but always on the podium, the Spaniard showed an unparalleled mystique, and along with the teamwork that fully supported him, he was able to be crowned for the second consecutive year.

]]>Alessandro Zaccone, Dominique Aegerter, Jordi Torres and Eric Granado are the favorites to be crowned. Although nothing can be ruled out, it is unlikely that, beyond these riders, others can aspire to victory in the category.
While they are not mathematically excluded from the competition, Lukas Tulovic, Matteo Ferrari, Miquel Pons and Mattia Casadei are too far behind standings leader Alessandro Zaccone to close the gap in just two races.
The Dynavolt Intact GP representative is not only very fast, but also the most experienced. He was one step away from becoming MotoE champion on his debut and would have made it if he hadn’t been knocked down at both Misano and Le Mans.

This year he was less impressive than in 2020 when he had taken two wins, one of them at Misano, and paid for the mistake he made at Assen by crashing on the first lap. However, eleven starting points are very few when there are still fifty available.
In the overall standings, Jordi Torres has three points more than Aegerter and eight points behind Zaccone. In the three races held last year at Misano, the Spaniard achieved a fourth, third and second place, and pole position. San Marino is undoubtedly the place where the 2020 champion achieved his best overall results and is perhaps the one he would have chosen to challenge for the title at the start of the championship.
Eric Granado is just seven points behind Zaccone and one point ahead of Torres. The Brazilian’s performance this 2021 is very different from previous seasons when he used to be very fast, but he made mistakes just as often and ended up on the ground.
This season he has more experience, knows the MotoE tracks, has fewer mistakes and is still fast. He has taken four of the five pole positions so far and has two victories. His year could have been even more encouraging if he had not had to start from the pit lane at the Catalan GP due to a technical problem with his bike.
At Misano, Granado has not achieved significant results so far, in 2019 a qualifying mistake and a crash in the race marked his weekend. In 2020, he had another mistake at EPole and crashed in turn four. In the three editions held on Italian territory last year, Granado’s best result was a seventh place, but he is also the one who has set the fastest lap with 1’42.910.
The Italian of the Octo Pramac team has led the overall standings since the first race of the season at Jerez de la Frontera, and has had an exceptional year so far.
For Zaccone, the San Marino GP is his home race, since he lives close to the track he knows perfectly. This, combined with the performance and determination he has shown throughout the season, makes him the favorite for the final victory, even with the small advantage he has over his opponents.

Undoubtedly, other elements will influence the outcome of the challenge, particularly the performances of the other local riders: Matteo Ferrari and Mattia Casadei. The Gresini representative has been almost unbeatable in the past at the Misano circuit, while Casadei has made some of his best MotoE races there. This, without forgetting the Barcelona and Red Bull Ring winners: Miquel Pons and Lukas Tulovic.
Finally, the regulations will also play an important role when it comes to the outcome of the San Marino GP. The starting grid for Race 1 and Race 2 will be defined by a unique EPole; a single lap will decide the grid position of the riders on both days. Therefore, a mistake during the EPole will cost valuable positions for not only day 1 but also for day 2.

]]>The post Aegerter Confident on Winning MotoE Title appeared first on Green Racing News.
]]>This is the case of Dominique Aegerter, who after his third place in Austria proved that he is among candidates to win the title for the third season of the Championship.
The Swiss rider showed a very good feeling at the Spielberg circuit and says he is preparing a strategy for the end of the tournament, scheduled for the weekend of September 18 and 19 in Misano.
The Intac GP rider had a great comeback in the last race. After a rainy start that placed him eighth, he gradually overtook rivals to reach the podium.
“We immediately switched to slick tires before the start, it was the right choice,” Aegerter told Motorsport, who incidentally was due to ride that same date in World Supersport, a division he is very close to starting, but due to contractual arrangements gave priority to MotoE.

Last weekend, the rider mastered again in Supersport, at an eventful race in Magny-Cours, France, where he ran away solo and virtually sealed the series crown.
“The bike feels really good and I am very strong in the braking zone. In the end, I’m happy to finish third ahead of Alessandro Zaccone and Jordi Torres, which gives me confidence for the final,” he added.
“Overall, we are still in fourth position on the riders’ standings, but only 11 points behind the leaders, things are still wide open going into the final race in Misano,” the Swiss noted.
Alessandro Zaccone holds the lead on a nail-biting leaderboard that features Eric Granado, Jordi Torres, Lukas Tulovic and Aegerter, among other possible winners.

]]>Given this situation, Jurgen Lingg, Intact GP Team Director, for whom Aegerter races for in MotoE, has flatly denied the Swiss driver the possibility of attending the other series, as according to previous agreements, they have priority.
Lingg said he will not accept criticism if Aegerter loses the Supersport title, which he leads. Six wins in ten races under his belt puts him on track for glory with Ten Kate Yamaha. But in MotoE, although he is fourth in the table, he still has good chances to finish at the top.

The discord weekend is September 18-19, when the Swiss will have to sacrifice points at one of the two competitions he decided to take part.
“Back in spring, I allowed Domi to ride for Ten Kate Yamaha in the Supersport World Championship with the sole condition that MotoE would have priority in the event of a date clash. That’s why we can’t really be accused of anything,” Lingg maintained.
Although the schedule clash comes at a crucial time for Aegerter as he hopes to win the Supersport crown, focusing on MotoE could be beneficial for the Swiss rider.
A double win at Misano, Italy, on the final day of the electric series, would give Aegerter serious possibilities for the title race. He is currently 11 points behind leader, Alessandro Zaccone.
In Supersport, he is more comfortable at the top of the standings. He has a 37-point lead over Steven Odendaal.
Aegerter has proven to be a revelation during his debut Supersport racing season and, if he goes on and wins the title, he will put the Ten Kate Racing team back on top of the podium, for the first time since 2014.

]]>The track is already familiar to those who competed in the 2019 season, while those who joined from 2020 will face a new challenge. This is the case of Alessandro Zaccone, who leads the championship so far. The Italian has surprised all and sundry, beating traditional favorites, while showing consistency on every stage.
Meanwhile, the current champion, Jordi Torres, refuses to lose the illusion of retaining the title, and is placed second, seven points behind Zaccone. After a weak opening, the Spaniard has been tightening his grip and threatens the lead.

Dominique Aegerter is among the leaders, looking to Austria with hopes of moving up in the standings. The Swiss did not have it all in Assen (Netherlands), where a crash dropped him to fourth place, but just 17 points off the top. In addition, the Dynavolt rider comes from a week with the press, since in September his calendar clashes with the Supersport, a tournament where he races at the same time as the MotoE.
Eric Granado is tied with Aegerter in points. The Brazilian rider swept the pre-season tests and looked set to dominate the campaign from start to finish, but some mistakes in races and the unexpected appearance of Zaccone have put him behind. Despite the obstacles, if there is someone who can show his quality in the decisive hours, it is Granado.
Once the first group of riders who are at the top of the grid has been analyzed, we must also consider some drivers who have the ability to appear unexpectedly in the top.
Mattia Casadei is one of them, who after his great performance in the Dutch circuit, is only 10 points behind Dominique Aegerter and Eric Granado in third place.
E-Racing Gresini’s Matteo Ferrari also raised his hopes at the previous round. After a difficult start this year, the Italian achieved his best result in 2021 at Assen with a fourth-place position, and was the best Red Bull Ring finisher in 2019. He has been consistent by finishing in the top ten at every race this season, something only Zaccone, Torres and Yonny Hernandez have achieved.
Among others who can make a big splash, but might have a much tougher time are Lukas Tulovic, Hikari Okubo, and Fermin Aldeguer. This trio are in contention with good points still up for grabs. Although it may seem a titanic task, they all have a mathematical chance to conquer glory.

]]>“It’s clear I have to ride in MotoE,” stated the 30-year-old rider at a meeting with Swiss sports media. “I signed the MotoE contract before. I was only able to sign the contract with Ten Kate Yamaha (Supersport Team) if the priority was MotoE. When I signed back in November, we didn’t know exactly about how much overlap there would be. We can hopefully say there is only one.”
Aegerter’s contract situation is clear, but the Dynavolt Intact GP team rider could ask to be cleared for the Supersport World Cup in Barcelona. The Swiss is expected to make such a request, but only if he no longer has a chance to be in the top 3 in the MotoE overall standings.

“Let’s see how things go in Spielberg (Austria),” said the Rohrbacher-born. “I still have a chance to fight for the MotoE title. I’m currently 17 points behind the first, but there are two races in Misano (Italy) and 50 points to go.”
Aegerter would have to go with no points, and Alessandro Zaccone’s victory at the Austrian round would leave him with no chance for Misano in MotoE, a highly unlikely situation. That is why the Ten Kate Yamaha, from Supersport tournament, has to prepare to compete without his number 1 in Barcelona.
“It would be perfect if I had a 50+ point lead, then it wouldn’t be too bad if I missed an event. A title is a title, for me both are valuable and important. As for my future, it’s difficult, even by winning the World Supersport and MotoE World Championship,” he stated.
“In the Supersport World Championship, I could stay with Ten Kate Yamaha for 2022.” The rider also took the opportunity to dart at national media for the little attention given to his races. “Television should do more. I’ ve now won five races back-to-back and Swiss television showed zero, nothing,” he lashed out.
On MotoE, Aegerter is fourth in the overall standings after four races with three to go. Meanwhile, in Supersport, the Swiss leads the standings with 44 points over his closest rival, Steven Odendaal from the Bardahl team.

Aegerter was born in Rohrbach, Switzerland on September 30, 1990 and from a very young age he knew the two-wheeled world would be for him when he ventured into Motocross to gain experience and then moving through categories such as 125cc and Moto 2 before finally finding his place in the MotoE class.

A change of scenery was needed for Aegerter in his motorcycle racing career, as he opted for one of the categories with the greatest impact on the planet in terms of sustainability, while at the same time becoming stronger as time goes by. There, he quickly achieved two victories and two podiums to show what he is made of.
Gradually, he has been strengthening his position until 2021, where he is fighting side by side with Alessandro Zaccone for the absolute glory of the season. However, there is still a long way to go, so his consistency while defending Dynavolt Intact GP team’s colors will be fundamental.
Now, next up in the electric two-wheeled category will be the mythical Red Bull Ring circuit in Austria on August 15, where the Swiss rider will be looking to make his mark in the next-to-last round of the year, which could define once and for all the course of this season.

]]>The Swiss arrived with great aspirations on the track in Catalonia, after a great qualifying day in which he finished in the front row. The E-Pole was very different from the one at Le Mans. Without the rain present, there was a lot of excitement on the track and Aegerter was one of the protagonists.
“I arrived with great enthusiasm and happiness for the result achieved in qualifying, but it was not enough,” declared the pilot, clearly crestfallen after the final victory of the Spanish Miquel Pons.

He recognized that participating in several categories at the same time played against him in adapting him to the event held in Barcelona. “Going from the Supersport World Championship bike, which I won in Estoril a week ago, to the MotoE a few days later was more difficult than expected,” said Aegerter.
Despite not achieving the objectives set, Aegerter expressed his satisfaction at the return of the fans at the Catalan Grand Prix. 20,000 spectators witnessed the race live, where the Dynavolt-Intact team rider kept fighting over favorites like Eric Granado and Mattia Casadei and reached 20 points in the championship, one less than the leader, Alessandro Zaccone.
“It was really nice to have the fans live again. I also saw some Swiss flags. I am happy that my compatriots follow the MotoE category and cheer me on.”
“Second place is also a good end to a difficult and sad week over the passing of Jason Dupasquier,” he stressed.
Regarding the balance of his participation so far, Aegerter said: “On the one hand I am very happy with the 20 points, but on the other I am a bit upset by a small error that took away my chance to win.
“It was an interesting race from the beginning, there were a lot of battles for positions, but I managed to stay focused and was always ready for anything. I wanted to stay in the lead for as many laps as possible, but when they passed me, I made a little mistake,” admitted the Swiss.
He explained that after his blunder he tried to secure second place and succeeded. “I felt like there were other drivers behind me, so on the last lap I tried to be very smart and instead of catching up with the leader and attacking, I thought a bit about the championship,” concluded Aegerter.
