The Jaguar Racing team, second in the Formula E leaderboard behind Mercedes, have renewed their technical collaboration with the supplier of fluids for electric vehicles, Castrol.
The results for Jaguar Racing have been immediate since the brand was presented on May 8 in Monaco in round 7 of the competition. It is no coincidence that the British squad achieved 21 points in the principality’s career, the third best record of the season.
Performance, efficiency and durability in a sustainable electrical competition are some of the characteristics offered by the three Castrol ON products in their transmission, thermal and grease fluids.
Development for Castrol ON electric vehicle transmission fluid racing equipment has focused on reducing friction and power losses; as well as improving the supply of lubricant pressure and reducing the temperatures within the critical components of the gearbox.
With this operation, the service life of the electric powertrain is extended and its efficiency improved.

In the case of Castrol ON thermal fluid, its function is to keep the Jaguar I-TYPE 5’s power electronics cool in racing conditions lasting 45 minutes at high intensity. The product will allow future electric vehicles to charge more quickly.
Castrol also collaborates with Jaguar Racing, saving weight on its Formula E vehicles by making them lighter by grease additives providing improved lubrication to critical driveline components, reducing friction losses and overall temperatures.
For series electric cars, the improved efficiency of moving components has been found to improve driving range, one of the key factors affecting the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.
