More and more women are showing off their talent in world motorsport, as that absurd thought that it is a sport solely and exclusively destined for men is now forgotten. Many pilots show their skills in the various categories of competition that exist throughout the world.
One of them is Simona de Silvestro, born in Switzerland on September 1, 1988 (32 years old), she has managed to do her thing when she put the helmet visor, demonstrating her great quality behind the wheel in different important and prestigious categories such as the FIA Formula E, Indy Car Series and the Australian SuperCar Championship.
Her journey with her single-seaters began in the Italian Formula Renault 2.0 in 2005, there she gave a notch to her potential but was unable to get podiums. However, that did not stop her from changing category and continent, given that a year later she went directly to the United States to participate in Formula BMW, exploding among the best finishing fourth.

In 2008 she became the second woman to win a race in the Atlantic Championship competing with the Newman Wachs Racing team. In 2009 she went on to defend the Stargate Worlds colors, putting on another show of talent after placing fourth overall thanks to four wins and four second places.
IndyCar
Simona de Silvestro took the big step in her sports career after reaching the IndyCar Series, one of the categories that any driver dreams of competing in. Her dream began in 2010 with the HVM Racing team claiming the Rookie of the Year distinction. There, in addition to her glory, she experienced scary moments when she suffered an accident that burned her left hand at Texas Motor Speedway, however that did not stop her from continuing to give everything for everything inside the car.
In 2012 things were not entirely positive for Simona de Silvestro, who fitted a Lotus engine well below expectations to compete in IndyCar, so much so that her best result was a fourteenth place. Already in 2013 the things went greatly after becoming the third woman to get on the podium in this category, under the command of the KV Racing Technology team.
However, after this success, she was left without a seat for the 2014 campaign. When everything seemed to fall apart, Formula 1 knocked on her door when Sauber recruited her with the aim of contesting the highest category of world motorsport, but unfortunately a series of problems Economic factors prevented that dream, making the team feel obliged to cancel the contract.
Formula E
The talent of Simona de Silvestro could not be off the tracks for long, which is why Andretti bets on her and takes her to the FIA Formula E, being the starting driver for the previously mentioned team, winning the points on a couple of occasions and ending in box 18 of the championship.
Currently, the swiss serves as a reserve and development driver for Tag Heuer Porsche, providing all her talent and criteria to help the team grow, while waiting for an opportunity that will return her to ownership in the electric category, and for this she remains active competing for the same brand, but in the GT Masters in Germany.
