For days the possibility of Ford returning to Formula 1 after so many years of absence and history in the series was rumored. However, it is now a reality, since through social networks, both the category and the brand confirmed the return of the North American manufacturer to the competition.
In partnership with Red Bull, Ford will return to the top category of world motorsport as the Austrian team’s engine supplier from the 2026 season, just where the series will make an important step towards sustainable transition with the introduction of new power units and clean fuels.
“Ford is returning to the pinnacle of the sport,” assures Jim Farley, CEO of the American manufacturer. Now, from the F1 side, Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of the category, said, “We can’t wait to see the Ford logo running on Formula 1’s most iconic circuits”.
On the other hand, Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner was also pleased to partner with Ford for the team’s near future. “It will be a real strategic partnership; Ford will help with battery, hybrid technology and much more to keep the team ahead of the competition.”

A Great One’s Return
Ford’s return to Formula 1 comes accompanied by four essential pillars that have been revealed via social networks: “innovation, sustainability, electrification and world stage”. In this way, the Americans will return to the premier category of motorsport, joining Audi as major brands that will arrive in F1 in 2026.
Although the entry will be in 2026, starting this year, Ford and Red Bull Powertrains, the team’s engine division, will work to develop a next-generation power unit to drive Red Bull Racing and Alpha Tauri until at least 2030.
Finally, it is worth noting that the new Grand Circus regulations will stipulate more electric power and 100% sustainable fuels, improving safety and reducing costs for manufacturers, in keeping with the demands of a more sustainable category for the future.
