After revealing the body of the first electric vehicle a few weeks ago, Genesis, a premium car manufacturer from Korea, part of the Hyundai Motor Group, released more specifications of the GV60.
This new electric model, scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. next year, shares the E-GMP platform and various powertrain configurations with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, but promises a more luxurious interior than the conventional models.
The GV60 will be released with only the larger of Hyundai and Kia’s two battery pack options, measuring 77.4 kWh. Its powertrain of a basic rear-wheel-drive motor generates 225 horsepower and 258 pound-feet, while the dual-machine all-wheel-drive model has 314 horsepower and 446 pound-feet.

Genesis will also offer a high-performance dual-engine model, which has 429 hp and 446 lb-ft and accelerates from zero to 62 mph in just 4.0 seconds.
Autonomy and Safety
Although range ratings from U.S. authorities are not yet known, Genesis claims that the new electric model offers a 280-mile range hierarchy for the Korean market version.
New technology features available on the GV60 include facial recognition software that can unlock and start the car without a key when combined with fingerprint readers on the car’s door and dashboard. There is also an interesting gearshift designed to resemble a crystal ball.
The manufacturer also reported that it used recyclable materials for the interior with fishing nets and plastic bottles. More details about the technology and regulations will be known in the coming weeks from the U.S. authorities about the GV60.
Disclosures are also expected, such as efficiency figures and pricing, estimated to be approximately $55,000.
