The return of Extreme E after more than 4 months of action had Rosberg X Racing and ACCIONA | Sainz XE Team involved in an accident that sparked multiple comments and divided opinions. However, just when it was thought that all was forgotten, the German team has undergone modifications to its original sanction.
At the start of the final race, Carlos Sainz had better traction and immediately moved ahead of the pack, but everything got complicated when he was hit in the rear of his car, triggering a spectacular accident that knocked the Spanish team out of the battle.
However, Johann Kristofferson’s ODYSSEY 21 continued in the race and crossed the finish line in first place. After a few hours, a 30-second penalty was applied, relegating RXR to third place, and there, everything was closed to continue with the 2022 season in Sardinia, again to compete in the Island X Prix II.

Now, as the 100% electric off-road category prepares to arrive in Antofagasta, Chile, the Extreme E Sports Governing Council, Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM), has determined a change in the above-described sanction following an appeal by ACCIONA | Sainz XE Team.
Thus, Rosberg X Racing loses the third place and last step of the podium, finishing the NEOM Island X Prix at the bottom of the table. Under this new statute, the race culminated as follows:
- GMC Hummer EV Chip Ganassi Racing
- XITE ENERGY Racing
- JBXE
- ACCIONA | Team Sainz XE
- Rosberg X Racing
