Kia is one of the most consolidated manufacturers in the automotive sector, as it has a global presence with a strong presence in the main markets (United States, Europe and Asia). In addition, it is part of other companies as organizations that plan to become zero-emission within the next few years.
Now, beyond gradually changing its fleet from internal combustion cars to hybrids and electric cars, it also has external initiatives that contribute great value to environmental conservation. A recent example of this has been the donation of a customized Kia Sportage 2023 SUV to Sea Turtle Inc, a non-profit organization based in South Padre Island, Texas in charge of protecting endangered sea turtles.
Notably, the Asian manufacturer’s donation is the second phase of a partnership agreed between the two parties. Initially, the pact began relationship in April 2022 through a monetary donation designed to help Sea Turtle Inc improve its facilities, forming part of Kia’s corporate social responsibility initiative, “Accelerate The Good.”

Sustainability Purposes
The Kia Sportage X-Pro 2023 SUV has been customized both inside and out, taking inspiration from the organization’s daily responsibilities and the fragility of the ecosystem where sea turtles nest and hatch. Among the most outstanding features is the incorporation of standard white LED lights modified by Sea Turtle Inc. experts to change to red, a color more easily tolerated by these animals.
On the other hand, the vehicle is fitted with larger, low-pressure tires that provide better performance on soft sandy beaches by increasing traction and maneuverability, facilitating greater control when driving on this surface. Storage solutions have also been incorporated internally, both in the cab and in the cargo area.
“We worked closely with the experts at Sea Turtle Inc. to modify this Sportage X-Pro SUV to specifically address their needs in terms of performance, convenience, functionality and operation, especially when driving in areas where sea turtle nests are present,” said Russell Wager, Marketing Vice President, Kia America.
“Sea Turtle Inc.’s one-of-a-kind Kia Sportage will help this important organization complete their tasks more efficiently and allow them to rescue more endangered sea turtles than the 5,600 they saved last year,” he said.
