After a resounding success during the first season, Extreme E is preparing to face the second journey around the world with the intention of transmitting a clear message. Therefore, pay attention to all the details you need to know about the category format, drivers, teams, calendar, car and all the news about the category.
Extreme E was born from the hand of Alejandro Agag with the objective of raising awareness, propose solutions and carry out actions to stop the ferocious advance of climate change. Through motorsports, the idea succeeded in making a positive impact on people, experiencing an abrupt growth in order to face the second campaign.
Extreme E: Format
Ten teams will battle for the win during each X Prix, but to do so, they must follow a strict, entertaining and unique format that will test the skills of drivers and engineers.
The qualifying format consists of a race to define the positions on the race grid according to the finishing place, distributing a points format. On Saturday mornings there are two races (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). Also, there will be two laps to complete, one for each rider (male and female); however, the order will be determined by the teams.
Each classification (1 and 2) will have five cars, with two laps to complete to obtain the following points:

The combined points total between Qualifying 1 and 2 will determine the order of Semifinals 1 and 2, and Crazy Race:

The top two drivers from each Semifinal will advance to the final race, while the winner of the Crazy Race will also progress. In this way, five teams will participate at the competition defining the winner of the X Prix. In addition, it is important to highlight that the qualifying points are only to determine the race order, and do not influence the drivers and teams championship.

Extreme E: Calendar
The 2022 Extreme E season will start on February 19-20 in Saudi Arabia. From there, four more X Prix will make up the official calendar of the 100% electric off-road category. Desert, beach, rocks, mountains and more give life to a schedule full of excitement, action and adrenaline.

Extreme E: Vehicle
The vehicle used to carry out the Extreme E races has been named ODYSSEY 21, a mechanical beast of 1,780 kilograms capable of resisting strong impacts, transiting quickly through the most complicated surfaces, and still giving its best to be the main protagonist of the series.
The car is capable of developing up to 400 kW (550bhp), measures 2.03 meters wide and can reach 100 kilometers per hour in 4.5 seconds, even on slopes of up to 130%. This e-SUV features parts manufactured by Spark Racing Technology, the battery has been developed by Williams Advanced Engineering, while the tires are courtesy of Continental.
Personalities Highlights
Nico Rosberg
2016 Formula 1 World Champion. He starred in major on-track battles against Lewis Hamilton and established himself as one of the best. In addition, he has been a leading personality and pioneer on sustainable mobility for several years. During the first season of Extreme E, he was crowned champion.
Lewis Hamilton
Seven-time World Champion in Formula 1. A giant name in the world’s top motorsport category, equal in titles with Michael Schumacher, and holder of several unique records. He also bets on his sustainable side as founder of the X44 team.
Jenson Button
Another Formula 1 Champion (2009) joins the list of Extreme E. He started as a driver in the category, but stepped aside to give his place to Kevin Hansen.
Alejandro Agag
Pioneer in electric mobility and zero-emission motorsports. His work is behind Extreme E, Formula E and E1 Series. Everything that has to do with sustainable energies seems to have the interest and support of this personality.
Carlos Sainz
“El Matador”. One of the greatest rally drivers and a strong personality in motorsports. His presence in Extreme E enhances and elevates the prestige of the series to a unique level.
Sébastien Loeb
French, hard-working, legend, immaculate behind the wheel. His talent is widely known. Extreme E led him to buy his first electric vehicle. Undoubtedly, the influence of the category is playing a key role in bringing about change, even in the drivers themselves.

Extreme E inspires hundreds of fans to become sustainable in some way. Walking more, recycling, among other activities.
