New technologies are sometimes accompanied by luxuries and attributes that surprise and shake the market. In Dubai, United Arab Emirates have joined the electromobility despite being one of the leading countries in oil production worldwide.
Typical of the eccentricities of that culture, the local company Caviar Royal Gift launched a particular electric scooter bathed in gold and with great power, which increases its price up to 50,000 euros, in some cases, more than an electrified car.
The new micromobility-focused vehicle is specifically coated in 18-karat gold and is sold with the iPhone 14, the latest released by Apple.
Mechanical Features
The Caviar electric scooter is a real beast on a technical and performance level. It has two electric motors with 2,000 watts of rated power and up to 8,300 watts of maximum power. This allows it to exceed 90 km/h top speed, according to the manufacturer. Given the device’s characteristics, it would be considered a moped for legal purposes.
It also has a slow start mode, cruise control, speed limitation (adjustable between 5-100%) and three levels of torque delivery (50%/75%/100%). To stop it, it is equipped with a hydraulic braking system with 160 mm discs, 4-piston calipers and ABS system.
The vehicle also features double suspension with adjustable damping and steering suspension and 13-inch wheels. The frame and mast are made of aviation grade aluminum, with steel axles. The large battery is reflected in the weight: the scooter weighs 83 kilograms on the scale and can carry a passenger of up to 150 kg.
It has a 3,024 Wh capacity LG battery (72 volts and 42 Ah) that provides up to 150 kilometers of range in ideal conditions. In addition to the traction battery, it has a 12-volt auxiliary battery for lighting and accessories (electric horn, on-board computer display, turn signals, USB chargers, among others).
