The Dutch Nyck De Vries of Mercedes team was the winner in the first E-Prix of Valencia in a race marked by rain and in which much of the grid ran out of energy.
Portuguese Antonio Felix Da Costa was the dominator of the entire race since he obtained the pole, but the energy management was not ideal. Certainly a race that the DS driver will not forget.
On the final lap Da Costa, and several other cars ran out of battery power to finish the race and the final turnaround occurred with the victory of De Vries.
Unexpected was Muller’s second place and even more so Vandoorne’s appearance on the podium (3rd), since he started last the race.
The drivers’ standings now remain with De Vries first with 57 points, Stoffel Vandoorne second with 48 points and Sam Bird (leader before starting the Valencia race) with 47.
In the team table, Mercedes accumulates 105 points and takes a difference of 21 units to its closest pursuer, Jaguar Racing.

In the madness of Valencia the Safety Car was also present up to four times to regroup the pilots.
The touch of Andre Lotterer (Porsche) to Buemi (Nissan e.Dams) and the accidents of Guenther and the same Lotterer with Mortara were some of the stumbles that caused the exit of the Safety Car.
The action will resume this Sunday with round 6 of the competition that will be held at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, in which the energy savings of the pilots and the squads will be a factor that will be under the magnifying glass of the spectators.
