A few weeks ago, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) announced the E-Xplorer World Cup, a new off-road electric motorcycle series. As expected, Alejandro Agag, Formula E and Extreme E founder, is behind this ambitious project.
“The E-Xplorer team will have big plans and names we will reveal over the coming weeks and months, while preparing all the details for the event scheduled to start next year. I have no doubt they will lead the electric revolution on two wheels,” said Agag.

“I have always had a vision that motorsport’s future is electric. This dream is now becoming a reality,” he added.
The Spaniard also informed that the innovative competition has received interest already from “respected manufacturers and leading drivers.” At a global launch event, first details about the World Cup will be made public in the near future, including a possible first draft of the race calendar. According to organizers, first events could take place in the United States and/or Switzerland.
About the Championship
Twenty drivers will compete in the event, divided into 10 teams, each with a mandatory mixed male and female structure. Additionally, they must have a mix of leading drivers and top professional racing squads. Competition will be for the World Rider Title and the World Manufacturers’ Title.
Exclusively two-wheeled off-road motorcycles powered by a single 100 percent electric motor, with a maximum combined weight of 130 kg, will be allowed.
A review process will be conducted to identify additional manufacturers’ needs, along with a rigorous testing program which is already underway.
Motorcycles such as Austrian KTM Freeride, Swedish Cake, or French Electric Motion for trial excursion would be the type of bikes participating on the event.
