BMW wants to establish its presence on the electric technology vehicle market and is preparing to launch a new model, which promises to take all the spotlight and overshadow its competitors in 2022.
The German company is currently developing several electrified models to increase their offer of this kind on a worldwide level. One of the prototypes on the agenda is the new version of the impressive BMW 3 Series, a luxury car with zero polluting emissions.
While the project is being carried out with much secrecy, some European media have already caught the car testing in southern Europe.

BMW has accelerated the pace in order to meet the deadlines set and be ready to introduce the new creation to dealerships next year.
News to Date
A key feature of this new electric vehicle is that it will be a model destined to a specific market. China, leader on the automotive production with these characteristics, has BMW’s eyes fixed on the country, as the company intends to take advantage of these innovations’ boom on the Asian nation, facing the powerful Tesla Model 3.
A controversial fact within the manufacturing program is about the name given to this segment. Considering that the BMW i3 is not available in China, it is possible that the brand will use this commercial name to maintain the line followed so far with the other electrified vehicles introduced. Although, it is not impossible that the definitive name may be BMW i3L, since the 3 Series has been used as the foundation for the development.
Vehicle Details
The BMW 3 Series will feature two powertrains, called eDrive35L and eDrive40L. The main component will be a 74 kWh lithium-ion battery whose primary purpose will be to power a single motor.
The power will be sent to the rear axle, and the most portentous version will surpass the 300 hp barrier, while the autonomy is expected to be around 500 kilometers at best.
Production of BMW’s new jewel will start this November, but it will not be available to the public until the first quarter of 2022.
