Extreme E is very close to making history by racing in South America for the first time, with just one month to go before the series action moves to Antofagasta, Chile, for the Copper X Prix, the penultimate race of the 2022 season that could clinch the championship for Rosberg X Racing.
However, Extreme E is already familiar with the area due to its Legacy Programme focused on the conservation of the Amazon. Now, specifically in Antofagasta, it will touch on the subject of mining, where copper predominates with the main material, where little by little this practice is beginning to be included in a sustainable and innovative way.
Antofagasta Minerals will work closely with Extreme E to showcase its project, where best mining practices are the main driver of its partnership with the category.

“Bringing Extreme E to Chile will be an exciting time for all of us. As a world championship, it’s important to go to every continent to highlight the scale and variety of climate issues faced by people around the world, so I’m delighted that we can finally visit South America this season,” says Alejandro Agag, CEO and Founder of Extreme E.
Championship Battle
Johann Kristofferson and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky have dominated the second season of the 100% electric off-road category, where they have everything to become two-time champions of the series, although in 2021 the driver duo was formed by Kristofferson and Molly Taylor.
Both Swedes start again as the favorites, although as it is a new circuit, any scenario could come to life. ACCIONA Sainz XE Team has shown itself to be competitive as well as X44 and Chip Ganassi Racing, therefore, several candidates have enough guarantees to fight against the German team RXR.
